Welcome to Genesis University's Telecom 101. Class is now in session.
Many companies seem to go out of their way to keep their clients in the dark - they seem to think that the less you know, the more you'll "need" them. We think that's absurd. We've always been happy to take the time to educate our clients if they're interested in learning - we believe the more you know about this stuff, the more comfortable you'll be discussing it with us.
Unless of course it just doesn't really interest you all that much, in which case you're welcome to use our brains whenever you need to. We're perfecty fine with that.
Let's start you off gently - below you'll find links to a couple of useful tools - one is a glossary of Telecom terms, the other a literal Encyclopedia of Telecom & IT terminology. Everything you always wanted to know about Telecom & IT, but didn't know who to ask. Take some time to explore the other tabs listed under the Learning Center link on the menu - the first one will take you to information about How Stuff Works (subjects run from How Caller ID Works all the way to Twisted Pair / ISDN and SS7 Signaling). You'll also find a section on VoIP including terminology and defintions, and another on MPLS, which even includes a customer-friendly webinar on MPLS and how it might benefit you. By the time you get done, we may just want to hire you.
